Obituary

John L. Nespoli, a long time resident of Middle Village, New York passed away at the age of 99 on June 11, 2020.
John was a World War 11 veteran who served as a Crew Chief in the Army Air Corp maintaining the P-51 Mustang on multiple islands in the Pacific including Iwo Jima. He retired from the NYC Dept. of Sanitation in 1973 and then worked for Kew Forest Fuel Oil, which was located in Middle Village until the age of 73.
He was a member of St. Margaret's Parish where he was married and all of his children were Baptized.
John is survived by his daughter Carol and her husband Michael, his daughter Janet, his son John, his stepchildren Frank and Rosemarie, six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his second wife Marie and his long time companion Ann Chiaramonte.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated when large gatherings are permitted. All family and friends will be invited to attend.
John was a very charitable man. Since there will not be a typical wake, in lieu of flowers we ask you to honor his memory with a donation to St. Jude Hospital for Children or to Calvary Hospital, where he was well cared for in his final weeks.

“My Uncle Johnny: So proud to have been a part of your life. You were not only family to my mother and father, you were a best friend. Growing up, you played a big part in my life. Our memories of 78th Street (my favorite address) will always be treasured. I can see you by the BBQ...the lamb grilling, you sitting next to my father playing cards enjoying cigars, holiday and birthday parties in the basement, vacations in Catskills. Your smile was contagious & sense of humor unmatched. I am missing you, your niece Francine”
