Obituary for Rosario D'Urso

Rosario D’Urso, 94, of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, formerly of New York, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday, January 9th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC. A graveside service to honor Rosario’s life will be held at St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village, New York, Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
Born on January 24, 1929, in Sicily, Italy, Rosario was the son of the late Joseph “Guippe” and Rosaria D’Urso. Rosario enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 1, 1953, serving his country during the Korean War. Rosario's honorable service to his country continued until his discharge on November 30, 1955.
After his time in the military, Rosario pursued a career as a machinist, where he showcased his exceptional skills and dedication. He was known for his ability to fix anything and possessed a remarkable talent for working with his hands.
Rosario will be remembered as a compassionate, loving, and extremely generous man. He enjoyed gardening, always appreciating the fruit of his labor. Living on the coast, Rosario was often found casting his fishing line, enjoying the splendors of a good catch.
Those remaining include his sister, Rosa Costanzo of Apollo Beach, FL; nephews, Frank Messina of Newport, Joe Messina of Lakewood, NJ, Anthony Messina of Levittown, PA, Sebastian Costanza of Cape City, FL, and Joe Costanzo of Raliegh, NC; and his girlfriend, Eugenia Rudd of Cape Carteret.
In addition to his parents, Rosario was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine D’Urso; sister, Carmella Messina; and brother, Sebastian D’Urso.
