Robert C. Thoering, 56, of Middle Village, New York died April 12, 2020.
He was born on January 3, 1964 to Robert T. Thoering and Mary A. Thoering (nee Duncan).
Robert graduated from Archbishop Molloy High school in 1982. He continued his education at St. John’s University, graduating in 1986 with a BA in history and a minor in theology. He also received a masters degree from St. John’s in 1991 and Fordham University in 2003.
He taught at Our Lady of Hope in Queens and was principal of Our Lady of Refuge in Brooklyn. He was most recently at I.S. 125 in Queens.
Robert spent 34 years in education. His passion was teaching and wanted to be one for as long as I can remember. He was tough but well respected.
Robert was also a member of St. Margaret, our childhood parish. He was on the parish council. He loved to sing and was a past member of the church choir. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, taking relaxing trips to Saratoga Springs, traveling the world, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Thoering. He is survived by his brother, John Thoering of Southington, CT and his beloved partner, Barry Stockman of Middle Village. Our family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Long Island Jewish Hospital for the help and care.
