Obituary for Nicholas A. Podhaiski II

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Nicholas A. Podhaiski II was a very beloved member of our church family, whose life bore witness to the time, talent, and treasure given in service to our church. His life was a blessing to all of us - husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, beloved parishioner and Parish Council member. He was a fisherman and a fisher of us all -luring us in with his joyous smile and laughter, always being such wonderful company in the life of our church. His life of stewardship was set by example by both his parents, Nicholas and Pauline - being a young Church School teacher and then a inestimable Parish Council member, serving in so many capacities, truly a "work of heart." For many years, Nicholas was our preeminent financial secretary, ensuring that our church finances were held to the highest standards of record keeping. He always humbly said he was not a professional financial officer, but all his work keeping countless years of our church finances reflected otherwise. His work as Financial Secretary has served as a model for all those who have followed in his infallible footsteps. All his work was one of unparalleled excellence, and his veritable tomes of our church finances testify to this. His records were always so meticulously kept, the result of time spent on Sundays, weekdays, sometimes sacrificing time with family. After years of being a financial secretary, he continued to be an invaluable mentor to the Parish Council, sharing his expertise, financial ken, given so generously with his time and talent. Nicholas' humility was notable too, always acknowledging the efforts of others for their help. And before he ended reading his annual financial report at our Annual Parish Meeting, he would always say that all his work for our church was only made possible because of the love of his wife, Audrey … and she, always thanking him, "my wonderful husband", for his extraordinary efforts preparing materials and certificates for our church school. Theirs was a partnership and mission of devotion, dedication, and love for our church and all our faithful!
"Good and faithful servant, enter with the joy of your Lord."
May Nicholas' Memory be Eternal!
