Mary Ellen Beaumont (Weihs), 77, of Middle Village, NY passed away on December 29th in the comfort of her home after a hard-fought battle against leukemia. Born July 10, 1946, she is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend Sue Ellen Beaumont of Middle Village and doting son Doug Beaumont & beloved daughter-in-law Jennifer of Clinton, PA; her amazing grandchildren, Giovanna (Gigi), Joseph (JoJo), Madelynn (Maddie) and Caroline (Savannah); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Martha; her brothers Vincent and Paul and her sisters Bernadette (Weihs), Florence (Weihs), Dolores (McGovern), Anna Rose (Samodolski), Margaret (Corrigan), Lillian (Weihs) and her loving husband Arthur – only 10 months ago. Mary worked as a bookkeeper and school aide, but her most important and successful job was as a homemaker for her children. She also took tremendous pride in being ‘Nanny’ to Gigi, Maddie and Savannah, as well as ‘Boo-Boo’ to JoJo. Mary was married to Artie for over 55 years and their marriage was a wonderful example of a true partnership based on respect, a lot of love and fun. Although she put up a good fight, her broken heart was not able to sustain the loss of dear Artie. Mary was a huge Neil Diamond fan, and she loved playing bingo and her daily lottery numbers. She was an avid Mets and Jets fan and enjoyed reading Danielle Steele novels. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend. She touched so many lives in such a positive way. Mary will be terribly missed by those that knew her. Family and friends are welcome to call at Michael’s Funeral Home, 79-22 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village NY 11379 on Tuesday, January 2nd from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Her mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd at 10:45 am at St. Margaret’s RC Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
