Safe journey. Your light will always shine in my heart. I have always looked up to you and all you have accomplished. God took too soon for my liking but I believe he needed you more. I hope that you're looking down on us, proud that you did good. Give Papi a big hug and kiss from us. I love you Ma.

I keep telling myself that I'm having a bad dream or something but I know I'm not. I don't know what to say except thank you. Thank you for being such a heroic, beautiful presence in my life. Thank you for helping to raise my dad and his siblings, who are amazing testaments to your love, compassion, and selflessness. Thank you for teaching me a really amazing sofrito recipe. Thank you for coming all the way out to mine and JD's wedding even though you didn't have to - it meant the world to me and to Mom and Dad that you came. Thank you for helping JD and I take our honeymoon vacation - you were so unbelievably generous and I never thanked you properly. I found the postcard that I meant to send you and Tio George from Savannah in my journal on Sunday. At the time, I thought it was too late and probably silly to send it so late, but now I wish I had. I wish I had gotten more time with you. But I'm so grateful for the time I got. You're amazing. I hope I can grow to be some fraction of the woman you are. Your life is one of my favorite stories. Save a dance for me, will you?
