Obituary for Judith Mercatante

Judith Mercatante, 95 died peacefully at her home on October 20, 2021.
She was the youngest of 11 siblings and is pre - deceased by her parents
and her 10 brothers and sisters.
Judith was born in 1926 in Brooklyn NY., where she spent all of her life
until relocating permanently to Bradenton FL in 2018. After retiring, she
spent many winters in Florida but always returned to her home in New
York for the summer months. She was a true New Yorker and a loyal Mets
fan.
Judith was dedicated to her career as a computer programmer for the
DOD for more than 40 years. She was proud to be one of only a few
women in her field at the time.
She loved to travel with her friends and play golf with her brother. She
was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. She had a personality as big as
NY and wherever she went and whom ever she met, everyone knew
“Judith”.
Judith is survived by her 9 nieces, nephews and their spouses, 23 grand
nieces and nephews and 27 great-grand nieces and nephews.
Any memorial tribute in Judith’s honor can be made in the form of
charitable donations to The Shriners or St. Jude.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
There will a viewing at Michaels Funeral Home, 79-22 Metropolitan Ave,
Middle Village from 8:30 - 10:30 AM
Mass at 10:45 at St. Margarets Church, followed by the internment at St.
John’s Cemetery.
