I just saw this and thought I would offer a belated condolence, and memory. I first met Mr Carbonaro in 1977 when Mike invited a local comic store owner I worked for and I to his house for to buy some books. I drove there with Mike in his beautiful Trans Am, a memorable experience-mostly because I had to hang on for dear life. While Mike and my boss John were making deals, Tony (he insisted I call him Tony) and I played pinball on the machine in his home. How cool was he, to have a pinball machine in his home, and take time to play it with a 15 year old kid? Later he and I had coffee and split a jar of Italian cookies. Mike showed us an adult magazine he was profiled in as a comic dealer and Tony told us how Mike asked him to go buy him copies. He said "I can't buy these kind of magazines, I'm a member of the community!" So funny. For 30 years I didn't follow comics, when I began again about a dozen years ago, I would run into him at flea markets or shows. After I introduced myself he claimed to remember me (a mark of an old school gentleman-trying to put others at ease) and I always found him to be a kind and fun fellow. Last time I saw him I got a photo of the two of us and we talked about what we enjoyed reading. He recommended I read Napoleon Hill, telling he got a lot out of them. It was my privilege to know him, and I will miss knowing he's out there. My condolences to his family and friends.
Scott Murphy.

I've known Tony for 30 years through Michael's comic shows. The only time he didn't have a smile was when he dozed off behind the booth. A lovely man, admired by all in the comic book world. My condolences to Mike and his family for the loss of his mentor, partner, father and friend.

I only spent time with Tony a couple of times but found him to one of the nicest men I've ever met. God bless his soul.

Uncle A All who knew you were touched by your joy, excitement for life and caring. I will always cherish the times I spent with you. We had many adventures together, some hair raising especially getting lost in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Of course, who in our family could forget the yearly fun we shared at Coney Island. You never missed an important event in my childhood, even writing a poem in my graduation book. I especially cherish the times my sons and I spent with you and Aunt Bridget in San Diego. We experienced happy walks along the beaches and explorations of small shops. One night, you woke us and shepherded us to the beach as the high tide receded. To our amazement the beach was glowing with thousands of strands of wriggling silver under the moonlight - grunion fish awaiting the incoming wave to return to the sea. You will always be in my heart surrounded by love. Annemarie Avanti
