Alfred Paul Giardina

Alfred Paul Giardina died on May 28, 2023 of natural causes at White Plains Hospital, White Plains, New York. Alfred (also known as “Al” or “Freddy” to his friends and family) was 94 years old. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine and son Gerard. He is survived by his son Al and his two daughters-in-law, Gloria (Al’s spouse) and Heidi (widow of Gerard). He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Andrew, Daniel, Sophia, Jonathan, Emma, Kenneth and Christina.

Alfred was born in New York City on September 16, 1928. He was the youngest of seven children of Serafino and Giuesppa (Josephine). Alfred enlisted in the US Army during World War II at the age of 17 years old as an infantry rifleman. He worked for the Department of the Treasury, US Customs Division for more than 35 years. Alfred and Josephine raised a family in the quiet neighborhood of Woodhaven Queens, NY before they retired to Holtsville, New York.

Alfred loved the NY Yankees and a good cup of coffee. He was always kind and honest and believed in keeping life simple. When you were with Alfred you could always be yourself – he was a gentle soul who always had a kind word to say about everyone.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 8:45 am until 10:15 am at Michaels Funeral Home, 79-22 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY. Mass of a Christian burial will be held at 10:45 am on June1, 2023 at St Margaret’s Church followed by interment at St John’s cemetery
