Message to the Family: The first time I met Matt was a little while after he and Gina had started dating. I couldn't wait to meet him because of everything she'd told me about him and, most importantly to me at the time, how happy he seemed to make her. Gina is my colleague and good friend; I've known her a long time and I'd never seen her so happy. When I had dinner with Gina and Matt for the first time, he was quiet but I noticed two things: 1) he had smiley eyes and 2) he couldn't keep them off Gina. It was pretty clear they were made for each other, and that Gina had found her guy. Over the last couple of years I'd gotten to know him better and saw what a wonderful person he was. Kind, decent, caring, and witty with a wicked sense of humor. I'm glad for the times we were all able to hang out together. I'm glad for how happy Gina was--for how happy they made each other. Cliché as it may sound, true love is not easy to come by. When you find it, you know that it is the most perfect gift. I saw that in Matt and Gina. When Gina told me of Matt's passing, I felt like my heart had shattered into a thousand pieces. I had seen Gina earlier that day and we talked about her wedding, as we often did, and how excited she and Matt were. They were beginning to design invitations and a website. I cannot adequately express how heartbroken I feel for Gina and her family, and for Matt's family. I am praying for all of them and I wish them peace and comfort as they move through the healing process. We will miss you, Matt.

Message to the Family: Matt, you were taken from us way to early. even though I only had the honor of meeting you a handful of times, you were one of a kind. You will be missed by many. RIP my friend and please watch over us
